I have some news. After moving through a few dark nights of the soul (it’s been nine months, who’s counting 🙃), I built my website and made my drawings available to buy. For now it’s prints only. Originals will come at a later stage when it feels right.

Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Melvina, also known as Mystic Arts. It took a lot to call myself an artist. This year moved my transformation to its next level, and it’s only the beginning. What changed is simple: I stopped waiting for permission. I work with shadow and light. I let the shadows guide me into myth, mysticism, and the raw edges of desire and change.

I’ve been drawing since I was a teenager. It was my escape when the world said there was no future in art, but I kept sketching in my small sketchbook, hiding from the noise. With time I kind of put it aside and conformed to societal expectations of adult life. I always felt something was missing and in December 2024 where I started to find myself again and decided to reflect my feelings and deepest desires through art. I realised that it became less about searching and more about devotion. Yes, Devotion to beauty that bites back and to truth that refuses to be tamed.

My work is about crossing thresholds, stepping into places we are taught to fear, and discovering they are sacred. Each piece is an initiation, a mirror, an invitation to meet yourself without disguise. In the end, what we fear most often holds the light we’ve been seeking.
